JUNIOR DEPARTMENT NEWS

We are very much looking forward to seeing lots of parents at Speech Day tomorrow, and hope that you will enjoy seeing your children’s work on display in the classrooms: all the children have worked so hard this term and this year and they are very excited to be able to share their work and progress with you.

As you will have seen from Mrs Dalkin’s letter, next Wednesday, 6 July, is Seaside Day in Year One.  We are very excited about this, we plan to spend a good part of the day outside, weather permitting, and we we have planned lots of fun activities.  In the afternoon we have a visiting Punch and Judy Show, to get us in the real spirit of the seaside.
We would like the children to come into school in their seaside clothes; a Summer dress or shorts and a t-shirt.  They will need sensible outdoor shoes for the act ivies , trainers would be ideal.

A Note from Matron

There have been a few reported cases of Chicken Pox in the school, for further information please refer to the fact sheet here

Space Detectives: Cosmic Pet Puzzle by Mark Powers

The Space Detectives are back and this time they must solve the case of a missing pet.  However it’s no ordinary pet, it’s a synthpet, created by owners mixing different animals to make a totally unique one-of-a-kind pet. The missing pet has the body and legs of a cat, a duck’s bill, long rabbit-like ears and the scaly tail of a crocodile. A creature like that should be easy to spot, right? Not on Starville, the universe’s biggest space station where every inhabitant looks different.

This series is a great first chapter book, with engaging illustrations and action-packed fun storyline.

Teacher’s Book of the Week

This week’s Teacher’s recommendation is from Mrs Storey.  She has chosen “The Invisible String” because she loves the message the book sends – that we are all connected and no-one is ever alone.
