Understanding the World is integral to Early Years learning and we have been exploring the natural world, talking about what we can see, hear and feel outside and understanding the changing seasons. As part of this work, Reception have been busy planning for spring! Every pupil has been in the garden this week to plant a spring flowering bulb such as Narcissus, allium, muscari, crocus and tulips. We can’t wait to see our garden transform in the new year! Watch out for future photos.

The Christmas festivities have been flowing through Year One this week. We were all so impressed with their final performance of A Miracle in Town on Tuesday, and all of their hard work rehearsing definitely paid off! Keep a look out on Google Classroom for photos of the performance – here are just a few to whet your appetite!
To continue the festive mood, we had a brilliant time during ‘Decoration Day’. The children made three lovely decorations, which can be displayed on their trees at home. As we draw closer to the end of term, it can sometimes be tricky to stay focused and motivated; however, all of Year One pupils have continued to be enthusiastic and work extremely hard. They should all be very proud!

Year 2 positively shone on Wednesday morning when they recreated the nativity story in the ‘Strictly’ ballroom. There were funky camels, tangoing innkeepers, disco stars and dazzling hosts. The judges for the evening, Caesar Augustus, the Innkeeper’s wife and of course the Donkey provided lots of reasons for booing and cheering. The final score for the production was three shiny 10’s creating the maximum possible score of 30! Well done Year 2.
Here are just a few photos we will share a full gallery in the end of term newsletter.
This week Year 2 also enjoyed a festive Forest school experience, toasting marshmallows on an open fire, exploring the woods, den building and much much more. The sun was shining, the skies were blue and whilst it was certainly very cold all the children layered up with gloves and bobble hats and had a brilliant time.
We also took the opportunity to take photos of each class by our Beechwood Christmas Tree too.
Have a lovely weekend
