BEECHWOOD PARK PUPILS THROUGH TO 'YOUTH SPEAKS' DISTRICT FINALS
Last Wednesday evening (30th January) three pupils represented the school in the second round of the Rotary Club Youth Speaks Competition. This was the district semi final where they were pitted against the winners from schools in Herts, Beds and Bucks. Again, they were up against eight teams in the intermediate category (11-14), having competed previously in January when they took first place with lively speeches based on their chosen topic: what is the world’s greatest invention?
Our team was composed of Jonathan and Joshua (both in Top Form) and Freddie (Year Seven). All eight teams performed at an extremely high standard, covering a fascinating range of issues. After some deliberation, the judges chose three teams to go through to the next round: Aylesbury High School, Ashlyns School and Beechwood Park School.
Later in the month, the three boys will represent Beechwood Park in the District Final which will be held at Leighton Buzzard. The winners of that round will go through to a National Final in Nottingham.
Well done, boys!
