Stepping back in time – Roman Day for Year 3

History Off The Page came into school this week and it was another fantastic day of immersive learning for our Middle Department pupils today as Year 3 learned more about living in Roman times…

Great efforts on the Roman costumes everyone…

Year 3 Swimming Gala

Congratulations to ALL of Year 3 on a fabulous House Swimming Gala yesterday.  This was the pupils’ FIRST ever House gala, and they all acquitted themselves brilliantly, with some super swimming (there are certainly plenty of Beechwood swimming stars of the future!) on display as well as fantastic team spirit as the children all supported each other in their races.  Thank you to parents for braving the heat of the swimming pool on a hot afternoon, and to the wonderful Sports Department both for preparing the children and for organising the event!

This week in Year 4

This week, the talk in Year 4 has been all about electricity, adverts and a bit of burning!

In English, having spent the last few weeks looking at the features of adverts and attempting to create eye-catching and persuasive adverts for a range of objects from a pencil sharpener to a roaring, flashing T-Rex, the children are now busy creating and designing their persuasive adverts based upon their residential trip to Aylmerton which we look forward to sharing with you on Speech Day.

Year 4 House Swimming Gala

Next Monday, all the children will be representing their house in the Year 4 House Swimming Gala. The gala will take place during the timetabled games session from 1320 to 1440. Should you wish to watch the gala, you are, of course, very welcome to join us.

Please make sure your child has his or her swimming kit (including towel, and house coloured cap) and house sports top at school on Monday.

Reminder: Next Friday’s Trip to Chiltern Open Air Museum

Chiltern Open Air Museum – just to remind you that next Friday, we will be going on our rescheduled trip to the Chiltern Open Air Museum. Details were sent out via email earlier this week and can also be found in your child’s Google Classroom.

We will provide a packed lunch and morning and afternoon snacks for the pupils. As much of the day will be spent outdoors, we would like the pupils to wear warm, comfortable home clothes, including outdoor footwear (trainers or walking shoes) and (if the weather forecast is not good!) a waterproof jacket.

Have a lovely weekend!

The Year 4 Team

This Week in Year 5

What a wonderful week we have all had at Aylmerton – we are sure there will be some tired Year 5 children coming home tonight, but they have plenty of stories to tell you about their trip.  Here are a just a few photos from our week – more to follow next week.
