At Woodlands we have taken expert advice and time to design an innovative and creative curriculum for our new Nursery – a curriculum that you will not find anywhere else in Hertfordshire.
The curriculum is carefully planned and balanced to offer each pupil room for personal self-expression, at the same time ensuring that the vital, early academic skills and knowledge are woven in through kinaesthetic learning opportunities.
We understand that this will be the first experience of education outside the home for many of our pupils. It needs to be one of fun and creativity offered in an environment where time is taken to care for the well-being of the adults and children working and playing together – day after day.
Our Nursery staff team is well trained and keen to build secure and happy relationships with you and your children.
The Woodlands Nursery Curriculum encompasses everything one should expect to see – Maths, Language Development, Art and Craft, Physical skills’ practice, Science and Nature, Phonics and Literacy experiences.
At Woodlands, we have also timetabled these exciting and creative weekly sessions:
- Forest School
- French language and culture lessons
- Dancing sessions
- Opportunities for specialist music-making
- Outdoor Literacy and Mathematics classrooms
- Physical Education in the School Sports Hall
- Outdoor mud kitchen
Our Nursery curriculum is structured to ensure that our pupils experience a smooth and stress-free move to Reception.
Our Nursery and Reception teams work co-operatively throughout the year to make each September handover a natural and happy ‘moving-on and up’ process.
