Congratulations to our IAPs Fencing team who had a bright and early start the weekend before half term, travelling to Millfield School and coming back with medals around their necks!

Seb C, William J, Aiden B, Akaash K, Ben M all overcame some tough preliminary rounds, with some injury concerns at times, to progress in the competition. All were close to the finalstages and progressed throughout the knockout competition.

The whole team was fantastically focused on the job at hand. They had two preliminary rounds, with a minimum of five fights in each round. It was an intense and quick-thinking affair trying to get to 5 points first, and both rounds were critical in their knockout seedings later in the day.

Congratulations to Josh D for winning a silver medal in the U13 boys final, Issac G a bronze medal in the U11 boys, and Arisa T and Abigail C for winning the bronze medals in the U11 girls category.

Miss Hamilton and Mrs Briscoe were incredibly impressed with the whole team’s professionalism and resilience with the relentless pace of the matches.

It was an honour to see our fencers in action, representing Beechwood with skill, hard work, tactical-thinking and the best bit, amazing team camaraderie. Well done all!

Thank you to Paul and Maria from PDFA  Maria for coaching and supporting the team throughout the whole day, and to our team of parent supporters for travelling all that way!
