Storyteller Wilf Merttens Visits Beechwood
We were delighted to welcome renowned storyteller Wilf Merttens back to Beechwood this week. He had a busy day ahead of him, which began with an assembly to the Middle and Senior Departments, where he launched “Read for Good”
Wilf went on to enchant our Woodlanders with an animal-based story, complete with props, before coming back to the main School to host storytelling workshops for Years 5 and 6. Further information about these workshops can be found on the Middle and Senior Department news pages.
Wilf is our storyteller at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
Wilf is a writer and performer. He has won many awards for his spoken word work including Young Storyteller of the Year and Bristol Slam Champion. Wilf regularly performs at folk clubs up and down the country and has toured with his rendition of Prometheus.
He is part of the team that runs the spoken word area at several festivals (including Shambala, BoomTown and Secret Garden) and has delivered workshops for the Royal College of Art, the University of London, and Dartmoor Arts, as well as countless schools and libraries.
