Senior Department Notices and Reminders

Year 6 Open Classrooms

Following the success of the Year 3 and 4 Open Classrooms last half term, we would like to welcome parents of Year 6 children into school. This will be a relaxed event, held between 0815 and 0855 on  Tuesday 7 March. During this time parents will have a chance to have a brief, informal chat with Year 6 Form Teachers and Co-Curricular teachers.

On the day, please arrive at the Main Entrance and join your child’s Form Teacher in the Great Hall where you can have a catch up over a cup of coffee and a croissant before making you way down to the North Courtyard where you will have the chance to visit the Art Room, Music Department and our newly refurbished DT workshop. Your child’s Drama and PE teachers will also be in the courtyard for you to chat to.

Mrs Wright and Miss Macpherson will also be available in the Great Hall for a conversation with you about your child’s co-curricular progress and pastoral care should you wish.

News from the Senior Department

Each week, Mrs Wright recognises pupils who have received at least 10 credits – this week, congratulations to William R, Sasha P-H and Wilfred O for a brilliant week of effort and engagement.

News from the Geography Department

This week the Year 7 geographers have been out and about investigating whether Beechwood has its own microclimate.

The conclusions have been unanimous; there are places at School which are windier and colder or conversely warmer and less windy, than our surroundings. All three Year 7 classes persevered through very cold conditions to collect some excellent data and in doing so they took very good care of Alan, Alex and Anna (our new Anemometers!).

It was great to see fieldwork being completed on our doorstep and fantastic to see team work and communication skills being utilised.

News from the Modern Foreign Languages Department

As celebrations for World Book Day got under way on Thursday, 7B1’s Spanish lesson was spent reading some books.

Here are a few photos of the pupils immersing themselves in the following Spanish books:

¿Quién vive en la granja? (Who lives on the farm?)

Había una vez… (Once upon a time)

¡Hola! Yo Soy Otto Terremoto (Hello I am Otto Earthquake)

Blancanieves (Snow White)

El ratón de ciudad y el ratón de campo (The Town Mouse and Country Mouse)
